For those interested in Do It Yourself projects at home, social network Hometalk is partnering with arts and crafts retailer Michaels to have Pinterest-inspired parties at all of the Dallas-based company’s stores across the US and Canada. Select stores will also include Hometalk Bloggers in attendance. The parties will be from 1-4pm on February 16th and include discussion on five different DIY projects.

Hometalk Announces Pinterest Parties at 100 Michaels Stores

Demos held Sunday, February 16

(NEW YORK) Feb. 10, 2014 —Hometalk the largest home and garden social network on the web—today announced that Hometalk members will co-host Pinterest parties in 100 Michaels Stores nationwide on Feb. 16 from 1 – 4 p.m.

In a unique effort to expand the offline presence of an online community, these parties will provide live access to just a fraction of Hometalk’s expansive network of DIY experts. Hometalk has selected 100 of its members to lead a series of DIY craft demos for customers to learn from as they shop for supplies in Michaels stores. Handpicked for their DIY expertise, each Hometalk member will put their own twist on one of five Pinterest-inspired projects, offering customers hands-on help and tutorials, ideas and advice.

Between October and December 2013 visits on the site more than doubled—jumping from 2 million visits in October 2013 to over 4 million in December 2013. Hometalk also unveiled its new mobile site on Feb. 3, which provides enhanced usability and instant community feedback to users. One-third of the site’s overall traffic is accessed through mobile devices.
